Family Interventions

Family members often do not understand the critical role they can play in determining the course and outcome of an addiction in a loved one. The family may have already tried to get the person accept help. Often they are worried, frustrated, stressed and unable to comprehend why the person can’t or won’t stop the destructive course they are on. What they may not yet understand is that the addicted person is in the grips of a powerful condition - one which prevents him or her from clearly seeing the problem - let alone the solution!

When this chronic and progressive condition is left to progress it will invariably worsen and is sometimes fatal. Families often feel powerless and underestimate the power that they have - through the strong familial bonds - to effect change.

The most positive and constructive thing the family can do is to intervene. With a skillfully facilitated intervention the family can expect real change. 95% of the time the individual will go to treatment, usually the same day as the family meeting.
