Monitored Recovery

Pegasus provides professional monitoring and recovery management services for employers. The monitoring contract is developed based upon the assessment by, and recommendations of, an addictions medicine specialist.

The purpose of monitoring is to ensure the employee is remaining abstinent from mood altering substances and adhering to a recovery plan. The monitoring contract is generally 2 years in duration. The process includes random testing for the presence of alcohol and drugs in urine, saliva and breath and regular face to face sessions with the monitor. It is the monitor’s responsibility to collaborate with the employee’s other health care providers and to report non-compliance with the monitoring contract to the designated authority.

Referrals for monitoring are accepted from doctors, employers, occupational health providers and insurance companies when a diagnosis of substance abuse or dependence has been made based upon an independent medical evaluation performed by an addictions medicine physician.
